The difference between an desktop email client and a web email is that the desktop email client will give you access to all your older emails even when you are not connected to the Internet. You will also be able to write the replies to all your emails and store them so that they can be sent once you are connected to the Internet. There for the desktop email clients like Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird and Apple’s email client are more popular than the web email like Gmail, Yahoo, HotMail and Rediff. With a web based client you will first have to log into your account and only then you will have access to your account. But the advantage with the web based email clients is that you can log into the email account from any computer and from anywhere which is not possible with the desktop email clients for which you will have to use the same system.
Google’s Gmail is a web based email client. Google in the past has given its users an option to use the offline services for its Gmail service. But that option has been rolled out many times by Google and then taken back depending upon the browser you are using. But the offline email access is available for the Google Chrome users using a plugin knows as Offline Google Mail which will help you to access your emails when you are offline also.
First open the Google Chrome extension for Offline Google mail from the link at the bottom of the article. After opening this link click on the button tat says Add To Chrome. After you will click on this button it will ask you again to confirm the installation of this plugin. Click on the install button to confirm it. After the installation is finished you will be able to access the Google Mail in a new tab using this plugin.
You will also get the option to access the Offline Email you can select any option that you want. If you select this option you will be able to access the Gmail offline. As soon as you hit continue you will see the your recent mails of your Gmail.
